English Text

Schwabach, December 15 1923

Dear Friends and Family,

We sent a letter on October 26 regarding the package we received containing shoes. I assume you have received that letter by now.

Again, many thanks for everything. I hope you, my friend, and your dear family are healthy and happy which, thank God, is the case with us.

Philipp has been back in school for the past three weeks. His broken leg has healed quite well.

As you probably know, conditions are quite wretched here. We now have to eke our existence with a half month’s wages. Although the German government can pay its civil servants x, this is no longer enough to cover basic necessities. Surely, these times will pass.

Please let us hear from you again soon. We sincerely wish much luck and many blessings for the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.

We close with heartfelt greetings and with the wish that this letter finds you as healthy as we are in sending it.

Hans Weinhardt and family
