English Text

Würzburg, Nov. 4, 1856

Beloved brothers, Seligmann and Sigmund!

I have your two letters laid out beside me. They have given me much pleasure. As I read your letters, I was overcome with a feeling of thankfulness to the Almighty for the great mercy that he has shown you.

Much to my sorrow, I have not been able to answer you sooner. I only have a moment at the present time. I was home for Yom Kippur with our parents. One of your letters arrived the day before I arrived home. I had to return here sooner than I had expected. It is again time for the trade show.

Please excuse me this time, for I have very little time and I must eat before I return to work. I will write you a longer letter after the trade show is over.

I wish for you all the good things that such fine brothers are entitled to. Remain well.

Your brother,

Max
